Case Milnet

Plockmatic 1000 Booklet Making System at Milnet in UK

”We had a good experience with the smaller Plockmatic PL102 booklet makers which made the choice to go with the new system easy. We were satisfied with our old systems, but after long (and reliable) use they were due for replacement. With no doubt, the best thing with the BM 2000 is the ease of use. Staff find them very easy and simple to use which is extremely important for the success of our operation.”

The printing facility:

Digital printing production in monochrome is done on multiple devices including Ricoh whilst colour production includes Xerox DocuColor 8000s. The BM 2000 Booklet making systems are conveniently situated to maximise workflow.

The printing facility can truly handle the flexibility and high security demands of the legal and financial sectors.
The Millnet printing facility runs a 24/7 365 day operation.

The applications:

Millnet produces colour as well as monochrome publications digitally.
Examples of publications are various information documents for the financial and legal sectors.
Significantly, most of the jobs are short run and the turn around time is often immediate and most documentation is highly confidential.
Applications are mostly in A4 and A5 booklet sizes and the substrate most commonly used is Xerox ColoTech 100gsm. Other weights and qualities are also used. The square fold feature is appreciated since it creates a nice look and feel to the booklets that most customers have developed a preference over the normal fold.

The equipment:

  • 250x350

Millnet uses a variety of finishing equipment which includes BM 2000 booklet makers with trimmer and square fold. The ability to hand feed or run automatically places the booklet makers in high esteem amongst staff. The optional hand feed tray is used for improved productivity.

Benefits of the Plockmatic 2000 Booklet makers:

The new PL 2000 Booklet makers were introduced in early 2009 and Millnet Operations Manager David Field confidently says:
“We had a good experience with the smaller Plockmatic PL102 booklet makers which made the choice to go with the new system easy. We were satisfied with our old systems, but after long (and reliable) use they were due for replacement. With no doubt, the best thing with the BM 2000 is the ease of use. Staff find them very easy and simple to use which is extremely important for the success of our operation. Virtually no staff training was required to transfer our work to the BM 2000.
Overall productivity is also important, the BM 2000’s easily keep up with both our colour and monochrome production.
The small footprint of the system is also important, they fit neatly in the heart of our production facility, between our Xerox DocuColor machines. The integrated SquareFold is a really nice feature. With the demands of short turn around times, the ease of use and effective hand feeding, the BM 2000 fits our requirements ideally.”
